Shalom occupies a prestigious and central position in Maidstone – a position we could not hope to repeat at this stage – property being at a great premium here. So far we have managed financially thanks to many generous donations.
However, sadly the Board, which runs Maidstone Community Support Centre, where we are situated, have forced a 50% increase in our fees on us and we are currently obliged to stay, there being no alternative at present.
We are so thrilled to have been able to help so many, many of which are not even able to afford a donation due to their circumstances. The following is a testimony of the work that is carried out by Shalom and I hope when you read this, you will feel the need to dig deep into your pocket and support Shalom so that this crucial work may continue.

“When I came to ‘Shalom’ first I was in no fit state to talk – I was bruised from head to foot, I had not eaten, washed or combed my hair for days and I had been crying for a long time. So they just sat me down and offered me a cup of tea and held my hand. Some long time later I was able to pour out the top layer of my story – one of mental and physical abuse, from childhood - and continued abuse and violence into marriage, added to which I have had several miscarriages, an abortion and one of my family committed suicide and I have never been able to hold down any jobs and have been out work for a long time: After many hours of counselling, I have regained my self esteem and feel valued in a way I had never known before. Although I believed in God, he had never meant anything to me, but through counselling and meeting Christians I have found faith and have turned my life over to Christ. My dream is to find a gentleman – a Christian, with whom I can share my new life and have children; oh, and by the way, I have been offered a job!”
